Energy Info Highlights 2006Primary Energy Supply
In 2006, the primary supply of commercial energy grew by 2.6 percent to register at 67,878 ktoe
compared to 66,188 ktoe during the previous year. The growth was underpinned by higher import of
natural gas to meet the domestic demand. Natural gas import increased by 147.2 percent in 2006
compared to the previous year, while at the same time exports of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) increased
marginally by 2.6 percent. Exports of crude oil meanwhile decreased by 9.1 percent.
Malaysia total commercial energy supply in 2006 is 59,006 ktoe, an increase of 2.3 percent compared to
the previous year. The share of commercial energy supply was highest for natural gas at 45.3 percent,
followed by 39.7 percent from crude oil, petroleum products and others, 12.4 percent from coal and coke
and 2.7 percent from hydropower. (More...)
