Primary Energy Supply
In 2007, the primary supply of commercial energy grew by 6.6 percent to register at 72,384 ktoe compared to 67,878 ktoe during the previous year. The growth was reinforced by higher production of natural gas to meet the domestic and external demand. The export of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) has increased marginally by 3.9 percent in 2007. Exports of crude oil meanwhile decreased by 1.7 percent to register at 16,962 ktoe.
Malaysia’s total commercial energy supply in 2007 was 63,295 ktoe, an increase of 7.3 percent compared to the previous year. The share of commercial energy supply was highest for natural gas at 43.2 percent, followed by 40.4 percent from crude oil, petroleum products and others, 14.0 percent from coal and coke and 2.4 percent from hydropower.
